Tour the Salmon River!

Great memories that will last a lifetime. Embark on a single day, two day, three day or longer excursion of the Salmon River and its majestic surroundings.

The river moves through a variety of climates and land types; from alpine forest to high mountain desert to sheer rock walled canyon; the third deepest in North America. Because of its remote location, man's presence in the area was somewhat limited, leaving it in the condition we see today. Only a few trails, landing strips, private ranches, and Forest Service stations are evidence of man's intrusion.

The Salmon River flows through the second deepest canyon in North America and  is rich in human and natural history. Prehistoric wall paintings and original homesteads dot the landscape. You will feel as if you have stepped back in time on your raft trip. Retrace the journeys of miners, pioneers and river captains from days gone by. Our guides are informal interpretive teachers who will offer stories about the human history, natural history, gold mining, star gazing and flora and fauna of the Salmon River.

The Salmon River canyon has abundant wildlife. On a typical raft trip you are likely to see big-horn sheep, mule deer, eagles, countless birds and river otter. You may even see a moose or bear.
